From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:16
This Sunday, our annual church board elections will take place. All members (not solely attenders) of this church who are at least 15 years of age are welcome to vote. We recognize that some of our members may not yet feel comfortable attending services on campus, so this year we have a provision that allows for votes to be submitted by responding to this email or by contacting the church office no later than this Friday.
Because of the uniqueness of this option, we ask that you provide your name if you choose to vote through one of these methods and that no one vote more than once. We are electing four representatives to serve on the church board for a three year term. Please vote for no more than 4 individuals. An attachment is included with a copy of the ballot with names and pictures provided. While an election may seem less than personal in a church setting, our denomination has chosen this process to ensure that the church body is well represented and a healthy structure is in place to encourage the spirit of unity God desires of His church.
God’s model of leadership differs from much of the world’s concept of leadership. In Scripture, leading is closely connected to serving. Jesus modeled this when He said, “Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” In fact, while the word “leader” is used 78 times in the Bible, the word “serve” or “servant” is used 478 times. While this Church Board will be called upon to make some important decisions, its primary function is to serve the body. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this important ministry.
