Authentic Christian Living

Imagine a small town where everyone is busy with their daily lives—rushing to work, managing family responsibilities, and maintaining personal agendas. One day, a new family moves into the neighborhood. Instead of quietly keeping to themselves, they start reaching out. They invite neighbors over for coffee, organize community cookouts, and offer to help those in need, whether it’s mowing a lawn or babysitting a child. As weeks go by, something transformative happens. People who once barely acknowledged each other now gather in friendship. Bonds are formed, laughter echoes in the air, and a sense of belonging flourishes.

This story illustrates the essence of living an authentic Christian life as portrayed in Acts 2:42-47. When the early Christians devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer, they not only grew in their faith but also fostered a vibrant community. They didn’t merely attend church; they lived their faith in such a way that they became a light to those around them.

In today’s world, authenticity in our faith can spark inspiration and connection. By practicing love, kindness, and service—like the family in the story—we can genuinely reflect Christ's love, creating communities where everyone feels valued and cared for.

Additional Passages for Reflection:

1 John 3:18: "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."  Galatians 6:2: "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."  Prayer:  Heavenly Father, help me to live authentically in my community. Teach me to love and serve those around me, reflecting Your light in everything I do. Let my actions be rooted in truth, and may I build strong bonds of fellowship that honor You. Amen.

Lenten Art Project
We want to bring inspiration and creativity to El Morro Church. We believe our faith can only fully come alive when we engage our WHOLE self and senses. Would you submit art in any medium (photography, glass, painting, sketching, poetry, etc.) representing the theme: Hope Is... We will display it through the Easter season in the foyer to lead us to a deeper understanding of the Hope of Easter!
