Don't Give the Enemy a Guest Room
Suggested Scripture: Ephesians 4:25–32

A small church once tried to move forward after a tense season of disagreement. But something quietly shifted. People stopped sitting near each other. Volunteers began dropping off. Conversations turned cautious. And when someone new visited, they could feel it: not open hostility, just a chilly, careful distance.
One leader finally said, “It’s like we’re all still arguing... even though no one is talking about it.”
That’s often how the enemy works: not only through obvious temptation, but through unresolved offense that lingers in the background. The fracture becomes normal. The distraction becomes routine. And the witness becomes dull... not because Jesus isn’t beautiful, but because His people are quietly consumed with who’s wrong, who should apologize, and who needs to change.
Ephesians 4 doesn’t just tell us to “stop being angry.” It’s more specific and more hopeful: deal with anger before it hardens into bitterness; refuse the kind of speech that tears down; and replace corrosive patterns with kindness that builds up. The invitation isn’t mainly to fix them... it’s to let Jesus search me.
Today, consider asking yourself a few questions:
- Where have I allowed offense to take up space in my heart like an unwanted roommate?
- What relationship keeps pulling my attention away from love, joy, and peace and into rehearsing grievances?
- What would it look like to “make room” for grace instead?
Forgiveness doesn’t pretend harm was okay. It hands the right to repay over to God, and it refuses to let pain become a permanent control center in your soul. That’s how you close the door to division, distraction, and discrediting and open the door to Christlikeness in the very place you least want to practice it.

Prayer for Today:
Jesus, search me. Show me where I’ve been holding onto offense, replaying old conversations, or using my words to wound instead of healing. Help me forgive as I’ve been forgiven and make me a person who builds others up with grace. Amen.
