YADAH - Raised Hands, Open Heart

In the second message of the More Than a Song: Discovering the Lost Language of Worship series, we explore the Hebrew word yadah, which means to praise God with uplifted hands. Far more than an outward gesture, raised hands express four profound realities of the Christian life: gratitude for God's goodness, surrender of our desire to control, dependence on Him in our deepest need, and joyful acceptance of the grace made possible through Jesus Christ. Drawing from the Psalms, the worship of Israel, and the finished work of Christ in Hebrews 10, this message reminds us that worship is not reserved for moments when life makes sense or emotions are high. Instead, mature worship chooses faith before feelings, opening empty hands to the God whose pierced hands have already secured our forgiveness and freedom. Yadah invites us to live each day with open hearts and open hands, trusting that the God who receives our surrender is the same God who faithfully fills our lives with His grace.
